Anamchara – Songs of Friendship is a family opera based on themes of friendship and the ties that bind people together, whatever their age and wherever they make their home. The multi-cultural cast of over 100 performers included young professional singers, musicians and dancers from Scottish Opera, Calgary Opera, Cape Town Opera, New Zealand Opera and the India-based Yuva Ekta Foundation working alongside Scottish singers, Scottish Opera’s Connect Orchestra and Chorus, and a community choir made up of children, students and adults from other countries living and working in Glasgow.
This project was conceived as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme in collaboration with the British Council.
