Message from the Skies, celebrating Scotland’s connection to Europe with love letters to the continent projected around the capital on six of Edinburgh’s iconic buildings for the public to enjoy.
This stunning, impactful and expressive audio and visual experience, in collaboration with Bright Side Studios was in response to Kapka Kasabova’s love letter to Europa on the National Monument of Scotland on Calton Hill.
Commissioned by Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 2019 in partnership with the Edinburgh International Book Festival and Edinburgh UNESCO City of Literature.

Drawing on Kasabova’s reflection of the continent’s mythical roots and curious dualities Bright Side Studio created abstract and varied landscapes that reacted to Murphy’s impressive score and formed powerful imagery inspired by her poetic words.
We created a secondary projection on the side of the monument where the audience could read and listen to Kasabova’s love letter in full. This allowed people to enjoy an intimate experience, enabling them to absorb and reflect on her words. The two pieces were timed so that they played one after the other.
Message from the Skies ran from the 1st – 25th January 2019 and received a four-star review from the Scotsman.
